Meet Pearl Dick

Pearl is a fine artist, educator and activist. Pearl has been working with glass for over 15 years. Her work is in galleries, museum collections, and private residences around the country.  She is represented locally by Echt Gallery in River North. Pearl is a teaching artist for SAIC, After School Matters and is co-founder of Project Fire, an artist development employee program that offers healing through glass blowing, combining glass arts education, mentoring and trauma psychoeducation to support trauma recovery and create jobs for youth injured by gun violence.

Who do you admire?

My mom who is a saint on Earth.  I also admire those people who ride their bikes as their main transportation all year round.

What scares you?

I am not one of those people who likes to be scared–I don’t watch scary movies as the images will stay with me forever and continue scaring me.  Faces popping up in windows, zombies eating brains, huge rats in toilets…I try to avoid these things.

What do you suck at?

Math

What makes you laugh?

Goofy, clever people

What do you believe?

I believe in the fantastic–fairies, gnomes,elves, unicorns–they are out there.
