Q+A

What inspires you?

The rescue animals I encounter every day inspire me among other things to forgive often, love unconditionally, and to be happy no matter the circumstance. I strive to achieve that daily and it is the reason I love what I do. Bialy, my most recent foster dog (that my husband and I ultimately adopted) has been a huge inspiration to me in that regard. She went through an inconceivable amount of physical and emotional turmoil before she even reached 8 weeks of age and although she struggled at times, her determination and go-getter attitude never ceased. She’s a reminder to me everyday that it is possible to be good and think positively despite the circumstance.

What scares you?

I have an extremely irrational fear of clowns, spiral staircases and stairs without vertical panels. One of the scariest things I have done was climb the stairs to The Campanile in Florence…luckily there wasn’t a clown chasing me.

What’s a little known fact about yourself?

My identical twin sister and I have an identical chip in the same tooth, however we both acquired them at different times in our life: me on a Pepsi bottle when I was 7 years old and her from a glass shower door about a year later.

What is your favorite song?

The one song that I will always dance to and sing along with no matter where I am is “Dancing in the Moonlight” by King Harvest. I associate it with being fun and carefree because there was a Hanes Her Way commercial featuring that song and every time I hear it I just want to strip down into my underwear and jump on a gigantic trampoline.

What expression or saying do you love?

“You are Beautiful.” Thank you, Matthew Hoffman for hooking me to this too often unspoken, but extremely powerful phrase. I don’t believe people are told enough that they are beautiful and I love that YAB stickers are a constant reminder that three small words can make a huge impact. It’s allowed me to be more cognizant of how I express myself to friends, family and strangers and driven me to be more open and vocal about how I feel about their beautiful contributions.
